What We Stand For

The Friends of the Hewitt Public Library (FHPL) was created by Hewitt citizens to assist and promote the Hewitt Public Library through fundraising, volunteer work and increasing public awareness. In 2018, the Friends group purchased phase one of the musical garden and is currently working on a master plan to finish the garden in the coming years.  Exciting additions are coming!

about the hewitt public library

We Provide an Environment to Encourage Lifelong Learning

The mission of the Hewitt Public Library is to provide an environment where lifelong habits of learning, self-improvement and self-expression are encouraged, and where patrons can meet their educational, informational and recreational needs for all ages in a variety of formats. In carrying out that mission, the Library hosts dozens of programs throughout the year—including story time for preschool children, teens, culinary and other programs to educate the community.

how you can help

join, donate or volunteer

Did you know membership levels start at just $10 per year? That’s less than $1 per month! Every bit truly helps when it comes to supporting the amazing work our library is doing in and for the community.

Donations are always appreciated as every dollar the Friends of the Hewitt Public Library receives goes back to the library in support of the programs and amenities it provides to the greater Hewitt community throughout the year.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of fun activities at the library! Use your talent and skills to help with literacy programs, craft activities, gardening, children’s programs, tutoring, helping with the library’s special events and many more happenings. A Message From Our President

Ann Schiltz

As we start this new year, we look forward with hope to a continued reopening of our lifestyles where we can once again gather more freely with one another.
Our lovely flower “Butterfly of Hope” continues to bloom in the courtyard, a labor of love by dedicated volunteers.
Our library is one of few that have been able to provide additional services beyond curbside checkout. We are so fortunate to have such an outstanding library and staff. As we advance, the library can gradually open up old services and provide additional ones, often with a new twist.
The library will be coming out with an updated, January-March, newsletter, electronic and printed versions in the near future. Emphasis will be on being able to come together safely so that we start renewing our library contacts.
This past year, board members have agreed to continue in their present board positions until our next election.
If you haven’t renewed your membership for this coming year, please consider doing so as our group is one of the library’s biggest supporters.
I am looking forward to seeing you in person again in the future at a fun-filled Friends/Library event! You all know how our Director, Waynette Ditto, loves to plan “galas” at the library!

Sincerely Yours,

Ann Schiltz, President
